Weekly CVE digest
One email a week with newly published vulnerabilities worth knowing about. No account needed.
This digest covers new vulnerabilities in general, not your servers. If you want to know which of them actually run in your infrastructure, that is what Secvalis does: it scans your machines and reports only what concerns them.
Under certain circumstances on affected platforms running Arista EOS with gRPC Network Packet Sampling Interface (gNPSI) enabled, an unauthenticated gNPSI client can craft a malicious request to allow arbitrary code execution, granting an attacker full administrative control over the compromised switch.
On affected platforms running Arista EOS with VRRPv2 IP-AH authentication configured, an unauthenticated attacker within the same layer 2 network segment on which VRRP is running can capture a legitimate authenticated VRRP advertisement and replay it indefinitely. Replayed advertisements can be used to advertise stale VRRP state, for example to prevent a backup router from taking over the virtual gateway after the original master has gone down.
On Arista EOS platforms with VRRP enabled, peer device VRRP authentication credentials are logged in cleartext. An authenticated user with sufficient privileges can read these credentials from agent trace logs or from a system receiving forwarded log output, without access to the network segment running VRRP.
Server-Side Request Forgery / Local File Inclusion in Apache MyFace Core. Older unsupported versions may also be affected.
Redocly CLI makes OpenAPI validation, linting, and documentation workflows easier. Prior to version 2.33.0 of @redocly/respect-core and @redocly/cli, the respect command dynamically evaluates $faker runtime expressions in Arazzo descriptions. A crafted expression can traverse constructor, prototype, or __proto__ properties in packages/respect-core/src/modules/context-parser/get-value-from-context.ts, reach the JavaScript Function constructor, and execute arbitrary code when a user processes an untrusted description. The executed code runs with the privileges of the CLI process and can execute shell commands or read CI secrets. Users processing only trusted, self-authored workflows are not affected. This issue is fixed in @redocly/respect-core and @redocly/cli version 2.33.0.
Prior to @redocly/cli 2.33.2, the split command constructs output paths under --outDir from untrusted OpenAPI or AsyncAPI component names and x-codeSamples lang values without verifying that the resolved target remains inside the selected directory. A description containing literal ../ traversal segments in those fields can cause the split command to place or overwrite files outside --outDir.
Wire (gRPC/protobuf for Android, Kotlin, Swift, and Java) before 6.4.5 and 7.0.0-alpha04 does not consistently validate attacker-controlled lengths against the current logical message boundary. In Kotlin, decoding paths (e.g., ProtoAdapter.decode, internalNextLengthDelimited, ReadBuffer.readVarint, ProtoDecoder.decodeSizeDelimited) can cross logical boundaries, perform pointer arithmetic, or reserve excessive memory. An attacker supplying malformed protobuf bytes can cause unchecked exceptions, traps, out-of-bounds behavior, or excessive allocation, resulting in denial of service.
Prior to 1.83.9, an authenticated LiteLLM Proxy caller with a valid virtual key can place api_base inside the user_config request body to bypass is_request_body_safe, which blocks top-level api_base and base_url but previously did not inspect or reject user_config. Because user_config constructs the outbound router, the nested destination redirects a server-side request to an internal or external host selected by the caller.
Suricata (network IDS/IPS and security monitoring engine) versions 8.0.0 through before 8.0.5 can deadlock in its IP defragmentation code when processing fragmented traffic containing an encapsulated tunnel protocol whose payload is itself fragmented. Version 8.0.5 contains a fix.
A Null Pointer Dereference in the mk_sched_event_close function (mk_server/mk_scheduler.c) of Monkey through commit 4fb0c16 allows attackers to cause a Denial of Service (DoS) via sending a crafted HTTP request to the server.
Kubero through 3.1.1 fails to apply authentication guards to the notifications API endpoints, allowing unauthenticated attackers to read webhook secrets and service URLs. Attackers can retrieve stored credentials and register malicious webhooks to intercept pipeline events or suppress alerting by deleting existing configurations.
Quickwit through 0.9.0 fails to validate the host and scheme of the queue_url parameter in SQS file sources, allowing attackers to make the node issue requests to arbitrary internal addresses. Attackers can supply a malicious queue_url to the create-source API to scan internal networks and fingerprint services based on connection response differences.
Nuclei versions before 3.11.1 cache template signature verification based only on file modification time without content checksums. Attackers can replace verified templates with unsigned malicious content and restore the original modification time to bypass signature checks and execute arbitrary operating system commands.
Covenant through 0.6 registers the CovenantHub SignalR hub without an Authorize attribute, allowing unauthenticated callers to invoke CreateHttpListener and receive a signed JWT token. Attackers can use the obtained token to authenticate against the entire operator API and access grunts, credentials, binaries, events, and the operator roster.
Shuffle through 2.2.1 contains a cross-tenant privilege escalation vulnerability in the HandleApiGeneration endpoint that allows administrators to reset and read API keys of non-administrator users in other organizations. Attackers with admin privileges in one organization can supply arbitrary user IDs to generate valid API keys for users in different organizations, enabling account takeover across tenant boundaries.
IRIS through 2.4.29 fails to properly validate case authorization in comment listing endpoints for notes, tasks, IOCs, assets, and evidence items. Attackers with access to any single case can enumerate sequential object identifiers and read comment threads from cases they have no authorization to access.
Scirius through 3.8.0 contains an arbitrary file write vulnerability in the PCAP filestore upload endpoint that allows default User role users to write attacker-controlled JSON content to filesystem paths. Attackers can supply path traversal sequences in the uploaded document's _id field to escape the intended directory and write files with .json extension to arbitrary locations as root.
A vulnerability has been found in Open5GS up to 2.8.0 in the function smf_n4_handle_session_report_request of the file src/smf/n4-handler.c of the PFCP Session Report Request Handler component. The manipulation leads to a reachable assertion, and the attack may be initiated remotely.
A flaw has been found in Artifex MuPDF up to b6d17493700c621c0e70036980a6ebd06d2202c9 in the function pdf_open_filter of the file pdf-stream.c of the PDF Xref Loading component. Executing a manipulation can lead to a null pointer dereference, and the attack can be launched remotely.
A vulnerability was detected in SourceCodester Inventory and Monitoring System 1.0. The impacted element is an unknown function of the file /admins/assessments/databank/btn_functions.php?action=add. Manipulation of the difficulty_id argument results in SQL injection. Remote exploitation is possible, and the exploit is now public and may be used.
