Summary

A vulnerability in Mattermost versions 11.7.x <= 11.7.2, 11.6.x <= 11.6.4, and 10.11.x <= 10.11.19 fails to invalidate OAuth refresh tokens upon user account deactivation. This allows a deactivated user or an attacker with a valid refresh token to obtain new functional access tokens via the OAuth refresh token grant endpoint.

Risk Assessment

The risk is that deactivated users or attackers with a captured refresh token can still gain access to system resources, breaking access control and potentially leading to data leakage or unauthorized actions.

Recommendation

It is recommended to immediately upgrade Mattermost to version 11.7.3, 11.6.5, 10.11.20 or later, which includes a fix to invalidate OAuth refresh tokens after account deactivation.
