CVE-2026-95627

HighCVSS 7.7
Published: Updated: Translated: NVD NIST

Exploitation Probability (EPSS)

Low risk
0.20%

9th percentile - higher than 9% of all known CVEs

Summary

When a Tauri application uses the dialog plugin's file or folder picker, an attacker with JavaScript execution (XSS) can force the scope expansion to be recursive, granting read/write access to an entire directory tree after a single user click on a normal-looking OS file dialog. The user has no indication that recursive access was granted, and the expanded scope cannot be revoked for the lifetime of the application.

Risk Assessment

An attacker can gain persistent read/write access to entire directory trees, potentially leading to data exfiltration or modification without the user's knowledge.

Recommendation

Update the Tauri dialog plugin to a patched version. Restrict the ability to execute untrusted JavaScript in the application to prevent XSS attacks.
