Summary

In Apache Wicket, FolderUploadsFileManager does not validate or sanitize the uploadFieldId parameter or clientFileName before constructing file paths. This allows an unauthenticated attacker to write arbitrary files outside the intended upload directory or read files from arbitrary locations on the server. The issue affects versions 8.0.0–8.17.0, 9.0.0–9.22.0, and 10.0.0–10.8.0.

Risk Assessment

An unauthenticated attacker could write arbitrary files or read files from the server, potentially leading to remote code execution or data leakage. This impacts confidentiality and integrity of the application.

Recommendation

Upgrade Apache Wicket to version 10.9.0, which fixes the issue. If upgrading is not possible, restrict access to upload functionality and review server permission configuration.
