CVE-2026-20238
MediumCVSS 6.5Exploitation Probability (EPSS)
Low risk24th percentile - higher than 24% of all known CVEs
Summary
In Splunk AI Toolkit versions below 5.7.3, a low-privileged user without 'admin' or 'power' roles could access confidential data restricted by `srchFilter` configurations on custom roles. The app contains an `authorize.conf` file with a `srchFilter` entry that modifies the built-in 'user' role. Because Splunk combines inherited search filters with the `OR` SPL operator, the injected filter overrides more restrictive filters on child roles.
Risk Assessment
The risk involves unauthorized access to confidential data by low-privileged users, potentially leading to information disclosure and security policy violations.
Recommendation
Immediately upgrade Splunk AI Toolkit to version 5.7.3 or later, which includes a fix for this vulnerability.
