Summary

In Splunk AI Toolkit versions below 6.0.0, a low-privileged user without "admin" or "power" roles could start, stop, and configure containers, and read or modify connection and configuration data through the REST API. The vulnerability is due to missing authorization checks in multiple REST API handlers.

Risk Assessment

The risk includes unauthorized access to configuration and connection data, which could compromise system confidentiality and integrity.

Recommendation

It is recommended to upgrade Splunk AI Toolkit to version 6.0.0 or later and implement proper authorization controls for REST APIs.

Original NVD description (English source)

In Splunk AI Toolkit versions below 6.0.0, a low-privileged user who does not hold the "admin" or "power" Splunk roles could start, stop, and configure containers, and read or modify connection and configuration data through the Representational State Transfer (REST) API. The missing authorization is possible because multiple REST API handlers in Splunk AI Toolkit do not enforce authorization checks.
