Summary

The QuickCal plugin for WordPress up to version 1.0.20 is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via Custom Field Parameters due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. Unauthenticated attackers can inject arbitrary web scripts that execute when a user accesses an injected page. The nonce guarding the unauthenticated booked_add_appt AJAX action is publicly embedded on any page rendering the booking calendar shortcode, making it trivially obtainable.

Risk Assessment

The risk includes execution of malicious scripts in the victim's browser, potentially leading to session theft, admin account takeover, or malware distribution. The attack can be performed without authentication, increasing the attack surface.

Recommendation

Immediately update the QuickCal plugin to the latest patched version. Additionally, restrict plugin usage to trusted pages and monitor logs for unusual AJAX requests.

The QuickCal plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via Custom Field Parameters in all versions up to, and including, 1.0.20 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. The nonce guarding the unauthenticated booked_add_appt AJAX action is publicly embedded on any page rendering the booking calendar shortcode, making it trivially obtainable by unauthenticated attackers without any prior account or privilege.
