CVE-2026-120455

MediumCVSS 6.1
Published: Updated: Translated: NVD NIST

Summary

rapidyaml through 0.16.0 contains an out-of-bounds write vulnerability in ParseEngine::_add_annotation() that allows attackers to corrupt memory by supplying YAML with excess anchors or tags. Consecutive anchors or tags overflow the fixed two-element annotation array in release builds, corrupting stack memory.

Risk Assessment

Stack memory corruption may lead to process crashes or potentially code execution. The risk affects applications parsing untrusted YAML data with rapidyaml.

Recommendation

Update rapidyaml to a version containing the fix. Until then, restrict parsing of untrusted YAML data.
