Summary

In Eye of GNOME, parsing a crafted PNG image with malformed color profile metadata fails to validate chunk boundaries while searching for a null terminator. This causes the application to read past the allocated buffer.

Risk Assessment

Opening a malicious image can crash the application (denial of service) or expose sensitive memory contents. Users opening untrusted image files are at risk.

Recommendation

Update Eye of GNOME to a patched version. Advise users to be cautious with images from untrusted sources.
