CVE-2026-110259

MediumCVSS 5.5
Published: Updated: Translated: NVD NIST

Summary

OW2 ASM 3.0 before 9.11 contains an uncontrolled recursion vulnerability in ClassWriter.replaceAsmInstructions() that allows attackers to cause denial of service through crafted class files. Attackers can supply a class with a large method containing many long forward jumps, triggering unbounded toByteArray() recursion and a StackOverflowError during transformation.

Risk Assessment

An attacker can remotely cause stack overflow and crash the application processing untrusted class files, leading to denial of service (DoS). This can disrupt critical JVM-based services.

Recommendation

Update OW2 ASM to version 9.11 or later. If updating is not possible, restrict processing of untrusted class files or increase thread stack size as a temporary measure.
