Summary

A vulnerability in the Tidewave library allows an attacker to read filesystem path names of the application via Tidewave configuration through /tidewave/connect or the rendered toolbar. The responses do not check the Host header, so a web page that rebinds its own domain to the loopback address can read the tag with a same-origin request that carries no Origin header. The paths usually reveal the local username and project layout.

Risk Assessment

An attacker can obtain environment information such as the username and directory structure, facilitating further targeted attacks. The risk affects applications using Tidewave versions from 0.8.0 before 0.9.2.

Recommendation

Update the Tidewave library to version 0.9.2 or later, which fixes the vulnerability. If updating is not possible, restrict access to the /tidewave/connect endpoints and toolbar, and validate the Host header.

An attacker can read the name of filesystem paths of your application present via Tidewave configuration via /tidewave/connect or via the rendered toolbar. Neither response checks the Host header. A web page that rebinds its own domain to the loopback address can therefore read the tag with a same-origin request, which carries no Origin header. The paths usually reveal the local username and the project layout. This issue affects tidewave: from 0.8.0 before 0.9.2.
