Summary

The TranslatePress plugin for WordPress (versions up to and including 3.3.7) is vulnerable to stored cross-site scripting via the 'comment' parameter. Insufficient input sanitization and output escaping allows an unauthenticated attacker to inject arbitrary web scripts that execute when a user visits the injected page. Exploitation requires unmoderated comment submission and a secondary language configured.

Risk Assessment

An unauthenticated attacker can execute arbitrary JavaScript in the victim's browser, potentially leading to session theft or account takeover. The risk exists on sites with unmoderated comments and multilingual setup.

Recommendation

Update the TranslatePress plugin to a version newer than 3.3.7. Enable comment moderation to limit the ability to inject malicious code.

Original NVD description (English source)

The TranslatePress – Translate Multilingual sites with AI Translation plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the 'comment' parameter in all versions up to, and including, 3.3.7 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. Exploitation requires the target site to allow unmoderated comment submission on at least one post and to have a secondary language configured — both conditions reflect TranslatePress's primary use case.
