CVE-2026-105868

HighCVSS 8.6
Published: Translated: NVD NIST

Summary

In Payload CMS versions before 3.90.0 and canary versions before 4.0.0-canary.34, local upload configurations that accept XML files can store an XML file and stylesheet that execute JavaScript in the Payload origin when a logged-in user opens the file. This leads to JavaScript execution in the victim's browser context.

Risk Assessment

This can lead to session theft, account takeover, or other XSS-based attacks within the Payload application context. The risk affects users who open the malicious XML file.

Recommendation

Update Payload CMS to version 3.90.0 or 4.0.0-canary.34 (or later). Consider restricting XML file uploads or implementing additional validation and sanitization.
