CVE-2026-105862

HighCVSS 8.7
Published: Translated: NVD NIST

Summary

In Payload CMS versions before 3.90.0 and canary versions before 4.0.0-canary.34, a collection that allows downloadable SVG uploads can store a malicious SVG that bypasses sanitization and executes attacker-controlled JavaScript when a user downloads and opens the SVG. This leads to code execution in the victim's browser.

Risk Assessment

This can lead to session theft, account takeover, or other XSS-based attacks within the Payload application context. The risk affects users who download and open the malicious SVG file.

Recommendation

Update Payload CMS to version 3.90.0 or 4.0.0-canary.34 (or later). Consider restricting SVG file uploads or implementing additional validation and sanitization.
