CVE-2026-104044

MediumCVSS 6.2
Published: Translated: NVD NIST

Summary

A flaw was found in SSSD due to a missing state validation check in passkey Kerberos handling. A local attacker can send a specially crafted PAM request when passkey authentication is enabled, causing the PAM responder to dereference an uninitialized pointer and crash.

Risk Assessment

A local attacker can disrupt authentication services on the host, causing a Denial of Service (DoS) and preventing users from logging in.

Recommendation

Update SSSD to a version containing the state validation fix for passkey Kerberos handling. Until then, consider restricting local access to SSSD services.
