CVE-2025-64425

High
Published: Translated: NVD NIST

Summary

Coolify is an open-source tool for managing servers, applications, and databases. In versions up to and including v4.0.0-beta.434, an attacker can initiate a password reset for a victim and modify the Host header to a malicious value. The victim receives a password reset email with a link to the malicious host, and if clicked, the reset token is sent to the attacker's server, allowing account takeover.

Risk Assessment

The risk for the organization is the potential takeover of a user account, which could lead to unauthorized access to managed servers, applications, and databases. The attack requires victim interaction (clicking a link), but can be effective in phishing scenarios.

Recommendation

It is recommended to update Coolify to the latest available version if a patch is available. Until a fix is released, consider mitigating trust in the Host header, e.g., via server configuration, and educate users about the risks of clicking links from unknown sources.

Coolify is an open-source and self-hostable tool for managing servers, applications, and databases. The victim will receive a password reset email, with a link to the malicious host. If the victim clicks this link, their reset token is sent to the attacker's server, allowing the attacker to use it to change the victim's password and takeover their account. As of time of publication, it is unclear if a patch is available.
