CVE-2025-10541

High
Published: Translated: NVD NIST

Summary

The vulnerability in iMonitor EAM 9.6394 involves an insecure update mechanism in the system service eamusbsrv64.exe, which runs with NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM privileges. The service automatically loads files from the C:\sysupdate\ directory during startup, and since any local user can create and write to this directory, an attacker can place malicious DLLs or executables that, upon service restart, are moved to the installation directory and executed with SYSTEM privileges, leading to privilege escalation.

Risk Assessment

The risk to the organization is that a local attacker can gain full system control through privilege escalation to SYSTEM level, potentially leading to data compromise, malware installation, or further attacks on the infrastructure.

Recommendation

It is recommended to immediately restrict access to the C:\sysupdate\ directory for unprivileged users and contact the vendor for an update that eliminates the insecure update mechanism.
