CVE-2023-27371
MediumCVSS 5.9Exploitation Probability (EPSS)
Elevated risk69th percentile - higher than 69% of all known CVEs
Summary
GNU libmicrohttpd before 0.9.76 allows remote DoS due to improper parsing of a multipart/form-data boundary in the MHD_create_post_processor() method in postprocessor.c. An attacker can remotely send a malicious HTTP POST packet including one or more '\0' bytes in a multipart/form-data boundary field, which, assuming a specific heap layout, results in an out-of-bounds read and a crash in the find_boundary() function.
Risk Assessment
A remote attacker can cause a service crash, leading to unavailability of the application using libmicrohttpd, affecting operational continuity.
Recommendation
Update GNU libmicrohttpd to version 0.9.76 or later to fix the vulnerability.
Other vulnerabilities in GNU libmicrohttpd
See all- CVE-2025-62689High
A NULL pointer dereference vulnerability exists in GNU libmicrohttpd v1.0.2 and earlier. The vulnerability was fixed in commit ff13abc on the master branch of the libmicrohttpd Git repository, after the v1.0.2 tag. A specially crafted packet sent by an attacker could cause a denial-of-service (DoS) condition.
