Summary

The Key Distribution Center (KDC) in MIT Kerberos 5 (aka krb5) before 1.18.5 and 1.19.x before 1.19.3 has a NULL pointer dereference in kdc/do_tgs_req.c via a FAST inner body that lacks a server field. This can lead to a crash of the KDC service.

Risk Assessment

An attacker could remotely cause a crash of the KDC service, disrupting Kerberos domain authentication. This may result in denial of service for all users and systems relying on Kerberos.

Recommendation

Update MIT Kerberos 5 to version 1.18.5 or 1.19.3 (or later). Monitor KDC logs for unexpected crashes.
