Cisco Small Business Routers Improper Input Validation Vulnerability
Cisco - Small Business RV320 and RV325 Dual Gigabit WAN VPN Routers · Listed in the CISA KEV since 2022-03-03. This indicates confirmed attacks in production environments.
Required action: Apply updates per vendor instructions.
CVE-2019-1652
HighCVSS 7.2KEVSummary
A vulnerability in the web-based management interface of Cisco Small Business RV320 and RV325 Dual Gigabit WAN VPN Routers could allow an authenticated, remote attacker with administrative privileges to execute arbitrary commands. The flaw is due to improper validation of user-supplied input, and exploitation occurs via malicious HTTP POST requests. Successful exploitation allows execution of arbitrary commands on the underlying Linux shell as root.
Risk Assessment
An attacker with administrative privileges can fully compromise the device and execute arbitrary commands as root, potentially leading to compromise of the entire network. However, valid administrative credentials are required.
Recommendation
Immediately install the firmware updates released by Cisco for RV320 and RV325 routers. Additionally, restrict access to the management interface and change default passwords.
