95th percentile - higher than 95% of all known CVEs

Summary

A deserialization flaw was discovered in jackson-databind before 2.8.10 and 2.9.1, allowing an unauthenticated user to perform code execution by sending maliciously crafted input to the readValue method of ObjectMapper. This issue extends the previous flaw CVE-2017-7525 by blacklisting more classes that could be used maliciously.

Risk Assessment

An unauthenticated attacker can remotely execute arbitrary code in the application context, leading to system compromise and data leakage.

Recommendation

Upgrade jackson-databind to version 2.8.10, 2.9.1 or later. Restrict deserialization to trusted types and avoid processing untrusted input through ObjectMapper.readValue.
