High
Published: Translated: NVD NIST

Summary

A vulnerability in the data plane IP fragment handler of the Cisco ASA CX Context-Aware Security module could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to cause the CX module to be unable to process further traffic, resulting in a denial of service (DoS) condition. The issue is due to improper handling of IP fragments.

Risk Assessment

An attacker could exploit this vulnerability to exhaust free packet buffers in shared memory, causing the CX module to be unable to process further traffic, leading to service unavailability.

Recommendation

It is recommended to monitor network traffic and implement additional security measures, as Cisco has no plans to release software updates or workarounds for this vulnerability.
