CVE-2014-1776

CriticalCVSS 9.8KEV
Published: Translated: NVD NIST

Summary

Podatność typu use-after-free w Microsoft Internet Explorer od wersji 6 do 11 umożliwia zdalnym atakującym wykonanie dowolnego kodu lub spowodowanie odmowy usługi (uszkodzenie pamięci) poprzez wektory związane z funkcją CMarkup::IsConnectedToPrimaryMarkup. Problem ten był wykorzystywany w atakach w kwietniu 2014 roku.

Risk Assessment

Organizacje mogą być narażone na zdalne wykonanie kodu, co może prowadzić do poważnych naruszeń bezpieczeństwa oraz utraty danych. Dodatkowo, może wystąpić odmowa usługi, co wpłynie na dostępność systemów.

Recommendation

Zaleca się aktualizację przeglądarki Internet Explorer do najnowszej wersji oraz rozważenie wyłączenia VGX.DLL jako tymczasowego rozwiązania, aby zablokować znane ataki.

Original NVD description (English source)

Use-after-free vulnerability in Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 through 11 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code or cause a denial of service (memory corruption) via vectors related to the CMarkup::IsConnectedToPrimaryMarkup function, as exploited in the wild in April 2014. NOTE: this issue originally emphasized VGX.DLL, but Microsoft clarified that "VGX.DLL does not contain the vulnerable code leveraged in this exploit. Disabling VGX.DLL is an exploit-specific workaround that provides an immediate, effective workaround to help block known attacks."
