Weekly CVE digest
One email a week with newly published vulnerabilities worth knowing about. No account needed.
This digest covers new vulnerabilities in general, not your servers. If you want to know which of them actually run in your infrastructure, that is what Secvalis does: it scans your machines and reports only what concerns them.
The WNC T-Mobile 5G Box IDU router contains an OS command injection vulnerability in the portal.cgi component's password change functionality. The application improperly neutralizes special elements in the http_passwd_hidden and http_passwdConfirm_hidden parameters, allowing an authenticated attacker to execute arbitrary commands on the underlying operating system with root privileges. The issue is fixed in firmware version 1.1.0.651412.
The WNC T-Mobile 5G Box IDU router is vulnerable to OS command injection in the /cgi-bin/portal.cgi endpoint, specifically through the cli_cookie POST parameter. The cli_cookie value is directly concatenated into a find command string without proper sanitization, allowing a remote, unauthenticated attacker to inject and execute arbitrary shell commands as root. The issue is fixed in firmware version 1.1.0.651412.
The WNC T-Mobile 5G Box IDU router contains a cross-site request forgery (CSRF) vulnerability in the portal.cgi component. The anti-CSRF mechanism fails to validate the csrf_token_value parameter, accepting any arbitrary value as valid, allowing a remote attacker to perform unauthorized actions on the device.
The WNC T-Mobile 5G Box IDU router is vulnerable to improper access control. The wnc_maccheck.cgi endpoint is accessible without authentication, allowing a remote attacker to retrieve sensitive configuration data, including the administrator web password, WiFi passphrase, and technical device information. This issue has been fixed in firmware version 1.1.0.651412.
The WNC T-Mobile 5G Box IDU router is vulnerable to command injection in the ping functionality within the /cgi-bin/portal.cgi endpoint, specifically affecting the ping_ip, ping_size, and ping_times POST parameters. The root cause is the failure to verify and sanitize user-supplied input before incorporating it into a system command, allowing an authenticated attacker to execute arbitrary shell commands and gain root access. The issue is fixed in firmware version 1.1.0.651412.
The WNC T-Mobile 5G Box IDU router contains an authentication bypass vulnerability in the portal.cgi component. The session verification mechanism improperly validates the sessionid cookie by only checking for the existence of a corresponding file in /tmp/login_user. An attacker can bypass authentication by using directory entries such as "." or ".." in the cookie, allowing unauthorized access to the administration panel. This issue has been fixed in firmware version 1.1.0.651412.
A vulnerability was identified in a2ui-project a2ui 0.8/0.9/1.0. Impacted is an unknown function of the file model-processor.ts of the component Model Processor. The manipulation of the argument current[segment] leads to information disclosure. The attack may be initiated remotely. The identifier of the patch is 1b3bff234661ce922cbc3771be642b23ec9fd0fa. To fix this issue, it is recommended to deploy a patch.
A vulnerability was determined in a2ui-project a2ui 0.9/0.9.1. This issue affects the function updateComponents of the file basic_functions.ts of the component Update Components. Executing a manipulation can lead to resource consumption. The attack can be launched remotely. The project was informed of the problem early through an issue report but has not responded yet.
In the Linux kernel, a vulnerability in skb_zerocopy() was fixed: it incorrectly called skb_tx_error() on the source skb when copying frags. This completed the zerocopy uarg and cleared the SKBFL_SHARED_FRAG flag on an skb still in use by the network stack. Specifically on the OVS_ACTION_ATTR_USERSPACE path, the skb was not freed on error, which could lead to ESP data being decrypted in place where the skb did not privately own frags, potentially causing data corruption or other issues.
In the Linux kernel, ni_create_attr_list() in the ntfs3 filesystem has a slab-out-of-bounds write. The function allocates a fixed buffer of record_size bytes and writes one ATTR_LIST_ENTRY per attribute without checking the buffer end. A crafted NTFS image with many minimum-size nameless attributes can overflow the heap buffer.
A bug in the Linux kernel's drm/xe component caused get_flat_ccs_offset() to round the end of usable VRAM upwards, exposing memory belonging to the hardware compression (flat CCS) region to the VRAM allocator as free memory. The compression hardware then overwrote data in that area without the driver's knowledge, corrupting page tables and hanging the compositor (black screen). The issue primarily affects Intel Battlemage G21 hardware.
In the Linux kernel, free_pages_nolock() uses spin_trylock() in NMI context on uniprocessor (UP) systems, which is unsafe. The bug affects the page freeing path and can crash the kernel. It is likely exploitable by local attackers for privilege escalation.
In the Linux kernel USB gadget ffs driver, the io_data structure stores a pointer to the submitting task's mm_struct but does not hold a reference while async requests are pending. This can cause a use-after-free if the task exits before completion handling finishes. The fix takes a reference with mmgrab() when queuing and releases it with mmdrop() on completion.
In the Linux kernel USB gadget f_fs driver, a use-after-free exists in the AIO error path. When ffs_epfile_io() fails with an error other than -EIOCBQUEUED, the io_data structure is freed, but the kiocb cancel function remains armed and points to the freed pointer. A concurrent cancel (e.g., sys_io_cancel()) can cause a use-after-free. The fix safely disarms the cancellation via kiocb->ki_complete() and returns -EIOCBQUEUED.
In the Linux kernel zram module, the slot lock bit is set in the wrong position on 64-bit big-endian systems. Instead of landing in the flags field, it lands in ac_time, so with ZRAM_TRACK_ENTRY_ACTIME enabled, storing the access time wipes out the held lock bit and lets another CPU take the same slot lock. An access time value with that bit set can make the slot appear locked forever. The fix shifts the lock bit into the flags half on big-endian 64-bit.
A vulnerability was found in the Linux kernel's Ceph filesystem where ceph_fname_to_usr() passed vmalloc() buffers to the fscrypt crypto API, which requires linear memory. This can cause kernel oopses, especially on non-x86 platforms. The fix adds support for vmalloc() buffers using a bounce buffer.
In the Linux kernel, the HID sony driver fails to remove a controller from the device list when HID core input device registration fails. The devres-managed sony_sc is freed while its list node remains linked, leading to use-after-free when the next matching controller is handled.
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel KVM subsystem for SEV-SNP VMs has been fixed. When the guest_memfd page backing a VMSA is invalidated (e.g. via PUNCH_HOLE) or the associated memslot is deleted/moved, the vCPU did not reload the VMSA, causing an RMPUPDATE failure (FAIL_INUSE) and a subsequent RMP page fault.
In the Linux kernel, NFSD admin state-revocation handlers (unlock_filesystem, NFSD_CMD_UNLOCK_FILESYSTEM, NFSD_CMD_UNLOCK_EXPORT) only check nn->nfsd_serv, which is set before nn->conf_id_hashtbl is allocated. This leads to a NULL dereference when the server has not yet started.
In the Linux kernel, nfsd4_revoke_export_states() drops nn->client_lock but the held stateid reference does not pin the client. A concurrent client teardown can free the client while revoke_one_stid() still dereferences it, causing a use-after-free.
