Weekly CVE digest
One email a week with newly published vulnerabilities worth knowing about. No account needed.
This digest covers new vulnerabilities in general, not your servers. If you want to know which of them actually run in your infrastructure, that is what Secvalis does: it scans your machines and reports only what concerns them.
In vgmstream up to r2117, the vadpcm_read_coefs_be function in src/coding/vadpcm_decoder.c (EA SCHl parser component) mishandles the entry/entries argument, causing an out-of-bounds write. Remote exploitation is possible. A patch named ae37662ad626254ddd96ad69ac263792d7a92024 is available.
In ash_authentication there is an improper authentication vulnerability that allows an attacker to sign in as another user by linking their OAuth2 identity to an account that is not theirs. The attacker can attach a verified email to an account matched on other attributes, leading to session hijacking.
A flaw was found in quarkus-websockets-next. This vulnerability allows a remote attacker to cause a Denial of Service (DoS) by streaming messages over a single connection faster than the application can process them. Due to unbounded message buffering and a lack of read backpressure, this rapidly exhausts heap space, leading to a java.lang.OutOfMemoryError that crashes the Java Virtual Machine (JVM).
In Sanic version 25.12.0, HTTP/1.1 chunked-body handling does not fully consume the trailer-part after the terminating zero chunk before reusing the keep-alive connection buffer. A remote unauthenticated client can place attacker-controlled bytes in that trailer region, which Sanic parses and routes as a hidden second request. This breaks HTTP request-boundary integrity and can provide a request-smuggling primitive when Sanic is deployed behind intermediaries.
Sanic is an opensource python web server/framework. Prior to version 24.12.1, and in version 25.12.0, the HTTP/1.1 response pipeline in sanic/response/types.py serializes response header names and values without rejecting carriage-return or line-feed characters. Applications that place attacker-controlled data in response.headers, file(..., filename=...), or cookie path and domain attributes can therefore emit injected headers and may split responses. Depending on application and proxy behavior, this can enable session fixation through injected cookies, cache poisoning, or security-header corruption. This issue is fixed in versions 24.12.1 and 25.12.1.
Dell OpenManage Server Administrator versions prior to 11.1.0.3 contain an Improper Certificate Validation vulnerability. An unauthenticated attacker with adjacent network access could potentially exploit this vulnerability, leading to information disclosure and information tampering.
Dell OpenManage Server Administrator, versions prior to 11.1.0.3, contains a Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) vulnerability. An unauthenticated attacker with remote access could potentially exploit this vulnerability, leading to Server-side request forgery.
Dell OpenManage Server Administrator, versions prior to 11.1.0.3, contains an Improper Privilege Management vulnerability. A high privileged attacker with remote access could potentially exploit this vulnerability, leading to Elevation of privileges.
Dell OpenManage Server Administrator, versions prior to 11.1.0.3, contains an Exposure of Sensitive Information to an Unauthorized Actor vulnerability. A low privileged attacker with local access could potentially exploit this vulnerability, leading to Information exposure.
In CakePHP, the FunctionsBuilder methods (cast, extract, datePart, dateAdd) allow SQL injection by improperly handling user-controlled input. Untrusted data is incorporated into SQL syntax without proper escaping, potentially enabling attackers to execute arbitrary queries.
Opencast is a free, open-source platform to support the management of educational audio and video content. Prior to versions 19.7 and 20.2, the default security configuration in etc/security/mh_default_org.xml accepts a client-selected JSESSIONID from the ;jsessionid= URL path parameter and does not replace it when the victim logs in. An unauthenticated attacker can send a crafted link to a victim whose browser has no active Opencast session cookie, wait for the victim to authenticate, and then reuse the known identifier as the victim's authenticated session. This can expose the victim's data and actions and can produce full administrative account takeover when the victim is an administrator. This issue is fixed in versions 19.7 and 20.2.
@cyclonedx/cyclonedx-npm creates CycloneDX Software Bill of Materials from npm projects. Prior to version 6.0.0, the Windows fallback path in src/npmRunner.ts, used when npm_execpath does not provide the npm CLI path, can construct a shell command containing an untrusted value from the --workspace option. When an attacker can influence that option and the fallback npm execution path is reached, shell metacharacters in the workspace value can execute arbitrary operating-system commands with the privileges of the user running the CLI, allowing data access, file modification, or service disruption. This issue is fixed in version 6.0.0.
In Vendure, the createCustomerAndUser function in external authentication matches an existing customer by email address and attaches a new external authentication method without requiring verification. An attacker can use an unverified email to hijack the victim's account.
In Vendure prior to 3.6.5, public Shop API products, collections, and facets queries combine mandatory visibility guards with caller-supplied filters using the caller-controlled filterOperator. When filterOperator is OR, a predicate matching a hidden entity can bypass the Product.enabled, Collection.isPrivate, or Facet.isPrivate guard. An unauthenticated caller can therefore retrieve disabled products and private collections or facets.
Vendure prior to 3.6.5 allows an unauthenticated caller to supply a catastrophically backtracking regular expression pattern through StringOperators.regex in the public Shop GraphQL API. Deployments using better-sqlite3 and sqljs evaluate the pattern synchronously in the Node.js event loop, which can block request processing. The issue is fixed in version 3.6.5.
Vendure prior to 3.6.5 contains a stored XSS vulnerability in RichTextDescriptionCell, which assigns an administrator-controlled description to a live element's innerHTML and then reads textContent. Active resource markup can execute an event handler during the innerHTML assignment before textContent is read. A lower-privilege administrator can store such markup in descriptions rendered by the Products, Collections, Promotions, Payment Methods, or Shipping Methods lists, and script executes when another administrator views the affected row.
In nuxt-og-image from 6.0.2 until 6.7.0, the unauthenticated /_og/d/** route is exposed when the documented defaults security.strict = false and security.secret = "" are used, and the fonts parameter is base64url-decoded through decodeOgImageParams. Attacker-controlled fonts[].path values flow through loadDefinedFonts into the font-assets/node.js binding, which performs a server-side fetch without validating the URL scheme, origin, resolved address, or redirects. This permits blind requests to loopback, private, link-local, cloud metadata, and other internal HTTP services, while differences in response status and timing can reveal service reachability. Slow targets can also occupy OG image render workers.
Dell SmartFabric Manager versions prior to 2.2.1 contain an improper handling of insufficient permissions or privileges vulnerability. A low-privileged attacker with remote access could exploit this vulnerability, leading to information disclosure.
Dell SmartFabric Manager versions prior to 2.2.1 contain an Insufficient Verification of Data Authenticity vulnerability. A low-privileged attacker with remote access could potentially exploit this vulnerability to elevate privileges.
ansi2html versions 1.7.0a0 through 1.9.3 contain a cross-site scripting vulnerability in OSC 8 hyperlink handling that fails to validate or escape URL targets. Attackers controlling ANSI text input can inject javascript: schemes or terminate href attributes to execute arbitrary scripts in the context of pages displaying converted output.
