CVE-2026-98962

Unknown
Published: Translated: NVD NIST

Summary

In the Linux kernel btrfs, after btrfs_uring_read_extent() the caller always jumps to out_acct, skipping kfree(data->iov). This is only correct for -EIOCBQUEUED where the deferred path owns the iov; on failure it causes a memory leak.

Risk Assessment

A kernel memory leak on failed btrfs uring read operations can lead to memory exhaustion and system degradation.

Recommendation

Update the Linux kernel to a version containing the fix that falls through to out_free on failure.
