Summary

In the Linux kernel, the Bluetooth btintel module has a DDC record length validation flaw. Records with length 0xFF can wrap during parsing, and records shorter than the mandatory three-byte header or exceeding remaining firmware bytes are not rejected before Intel_Write_DDC is issued.

Risk Assessment

Improper DDC record length validation may lead to out-of-bounds reads or incorrect firmware data processing, potentially allowing system destabilization or exploitation by a local attacker.

Recommendation

Update the Linux kernel to a version containing the fix that validates DDC record lengths in the btintel module. If updating is not possible, consider restricting access to Bluetooth interfaces.

Original NVD description (English source)

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: Bluetooth: btintel: validate DDC record lengths Parse DDC record lengths in unsigned storage so 0xFF does not wrap. Reject records smaller than the mandatory three-byte header, records exceeding U8_MAX, and records exceeding remaining firmware bytes before issuing Intel_Write_DDC. This issue was reported by Claude Mythos.
