Summary

In the Linux kernel, the USB Type-C anx7411 driver has an issue where the IRQ is devm-managed and can still queue plat->work while remove() is tearing down the workqueue. This leads to a race condition and potential use-after-free.

Risk Assessment

May lead to system instability, kernel crash, or code execution due to use-after-free during device removal. Requires access to hardware with the anx7411 controller.

Recommendation

Update the Linux kernel to a version with the fix that disables the IRQ before destroying the workqueue. Avoid uncontrolled removal of USB Type-C devices based on anx7411.
