Summary

In the Linux kernel fbnic driver, the standalone channel allocation path excluded FBNIC_MAX_TXQS from the layout, using one NAPI vector per Tx and Rx queue. A 64-Tx/64-Rx configuration recorded 128 vectors but allocated only 64, leaving NULL entries dereferenced during resource setup.

Risk Assessment

This can lead to a NULL pointer dereference in the kernel during resource setup, causing a system crash or denial of service.

Recommendation

Update the Linux kernel to a version where standalone allocation includes the maximum vector count.

Original NVD description (English source)

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: eth: fbnic: Handle maximum standalone channels Standalone channels use one NAPI vector for each Tx and Rx queue. fbnic's allocation path excludes FBNIC_MAX_TXQS from that layout. A 64-Tx/64-Rx configuration therefore records 128 vectors but allocates only 64, leaving NULL entries that resource setup dereferences. Include the maximum vector count in standalone allocation.
