Summary

In the Linux kernel wifi cfg80211 subsystem, a fix was made to not get the radio mask for netdev-less wdevs. cfg80211_calculate_bi_data() calls rdev_get_radio_mask() with wdev->netdev, which can be NULL and crashes in mac80211. The order of checks was inverted to avoid this.

Risk Assessment

A kernel crash could occur during configuration of wireless interfaces without netdev, leading to network service unavailability.

Recommendation

Install the Linux kernel patch that inverts the order of checks. Ensure beaconing interfaces have proper netdev assigned.

Original NVD description (English source)

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: cfg80211: don't get the radio mask for netdev-less wdevs cfg80211_calculate_bi_data() calls rdev_get_radio_mask() with wdev->netdev, which can be NULL and then crashes in mac80211. To avoid that, invert the order of checks since wdev->netdev is always valid for beaconing interfaces.
