Summary

In the Linux kernel, the Input: cyttsp5 driver fails to clamp the HID report size before memcpy. The size field comes from the device and is used as the memcpy length into response_buf of fixed size CY_MAX_INPUT, potentially causing a buffer overflow.

Risk Assessment

This could allow arbitrary code execution in kernel context or cause a system crash via buffer overflow. It requires physical access or a malicious HID device.

Recommendation

Update the Linux kernel to a version with the fix. Avoid connecting untrusted HID devices to the system.
