Summary

In the Linux kernel, the drm/amd/pm driver's pp_dpm_set_pp_table() uses memcpy with a size from the sysfs store count (up to PAGE_SIZE) without an upper bound, while the hardcode_pp_table buffer is allocated once with soft_pp_table_size. This causes a heap overflow.

Risk Assessment

This can lead to a kernel heap overflow, potentially causing a system crash or code execution.

Recommendation

Update the Linux kernel to a version with the fix that rejects writes where size exceeds soft_pp_table_size.

Original NVD description (English source)

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/amd/pm: bound pp_dpm_set_pp_table() memcpy The powerplay path allocates hardcode_pp_table once with kmemdup(..., soft_pp_table_size). memcpy(..., size) used the sysfs store count (up to PAGE_SIZE) with no upper bound, causing heap overflow. Reject writes where size exceeds soft_pp_table_size.
