Summary

The PO/MO Editor plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the 'podata' parameter in all versions up to and including 1.4.2 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. Authenticated attackers with subscriber-level access and above can inject arbitrary web scripts into pages that execute when a user visits the injected page.

Risk Assessment

The injected malicious script may execute in a user's browser, potentially leading to session hijacking, data theft, or modification of site content.

Recommendation

Update the PO/MO Editor plugin to a version later than 1.4.2 or remove it if unused.

Original NVD description (English source)

The PO/MO Editor plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the 'podata' parameter in all versions up to, and including, 1.4.2 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with subscriber-level access and above, to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. The injected payload is loaded as a replacement .po/.mo translation file via the plugin's own load_textdomain_mofile filter, causing WordPress to serve the attacker-written translation in place of the original core strings.
