CVE-2026-96554
MediumCVSS 6.4Exploitation Probability (EPSS)
Low risk10th percentile - higher than 10% of all known CVEs
Summary
The BuddyBoss Platform plugin for WordPress (up to and including 3.6.0) is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via Group Name due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. An authenticated attacker with subscriber-level access and above can inject arbitrary web scripts into pages that will execute when a user accesses an injected page. This requires the "Enable social group creation by all members" setting to be enabled, which is the default.
Risk Assessment
An attacker with a subscriber account can execute arbitrary JavaScript in the browser of other users, including administrators, potentially leading to account takeover. The default setting allowing all members to create groups increases the risk.
Recommendation
Update the BuddyBoss Platform plugin to a version later than 3.6.0. Consider restricting group creation to administrators if not necessary for all members.

Original NVD description (English source)
The BuddyBoss Platform plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via Group Name in all versions up to, and including, 3.6.0 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with subscriber-level access and above, to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. This requires the "Enable social group creation by all members" setting to be enabled, which is the default and permits Subscriber-level users to create groups; exploitation is not possible if group creation is restricted to administrators.
