Summary

jshERP through 3.6 contains an authorization bypass vulnerability in the POST /user/resetPwd endpoint that allows authenticated users to reset any other user's password. Attackers can submit a request with an arbitrary target user ID to reset that account's password to a known default value.

Risk Assessment

An authenticated user can reset the password of any account, including administrators, and gain unauthorized access. This leads to account takeover and full privilege escalation.

Recommendation

Update jshERP to a version later than 3.6 when available. Until then, restrict access to the /user/resetPwd endpoint and monitor for unusual password resets.
