Summary

In the Linux kernel, the perf subsystem uses event::addr_filter_ranges under RCU but does not free it via RCU. The incorrect object lifetime can lead to memory errors.

Risk Assessment

Improper freeing of memory used under RCU may result in use-after-free and system instability, posing a denial-of-service (DoS) risk.

Recommendation

Update the Linux kernel to a version containing the fix that frees addr_filter_ranges using RCU.
