CVE-2026-93286

Unknown
Published: Translated: NVD NIST

Summary

In the Linux kernel's appletalk module, aarp_send_ddp() calls atalk_find_dev_addr() without a NULL check, leading to a NULL pointer dereference when the device has no AppleTalk interface configured. The fix adds a NULL check consistent with other callers.

Risk Assessment

An attacker could cause a kernel panic by sending a packet to a device without AppleTalk configuration, leading to denial of service.

Recommendation

Apply the Linux kernel patch that adds a NULL check in aarp_send_ddp() before using the result of atalk_find_dev_addr().

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: appletalk: fix NULL pointer dereference in aarp_send_ddp() aarp_send_ddp() calls atalk_find_dev_addr(dev) in the LocalTalk fast path without checking for NULL. When the device has no AppleTalk interface configured (dev->atalk_ptr == NULL), this leads to a NULL pointer dereference at the at->s_net access.
