6th percentile - higher than 6% of all known CVEs

Summary

In the Linux kernel, the drm/amdgpu/pm/powerplay module lacked bounds checks on vddInd, vddciInd and mvddInd indices from VBIOS-parsed tables across nine sites. Invalid indices could cause out-of-bounds access to vddc, vddci and vddmem lookup tables.

Risk Assessment

Out-of-bounds table access may lead to reading invalid data or a system hang. Exploitation requires a crafted VBIOS, limiting the attack vector.

Recommendation

Update the Linux kernel to a version containing the fix. Consider restricting VBIOS replacement on AMD cards in critical environments.

Original NVD description (English source)

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/amdgpu/pm/powerplay: bounds-check voltage index in Vega10 lookup vddInd, vddciInd and mvddInd from VBIOS-parsed tables index into vddc, vddci and vddmem lookup tables without bounds checks across nine sites. Return -EINVAL when any index is out of range.
