CVE Catalog

CVE-2026-93044

Unknown
Published: Translated: NVD NIST

Summary

In the Linux kernel, the BPF interpreter does not support arena-related instructions, yet interpreter fallback was allowed for them, leading to a BUG_ON() hit in ___bpf_prog_run() at runtime. The fix sets jit_required to true when an arena map is used in the program to disallow interpreter fallback.

Risk Assessment

Triggering BUG_ON() causes a kernel panic, leading to denial of service and potentially allowing remote system crash.

Recommendation

Update the Linux kernel to a version containing the fix for the BPF interpreter; until patched, avoid loading BPF programs using the arena map in environments where the interpreter may be used.

Original NVD description (English source)

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: bpf: Disallow interpreter fallback for arena-related insns Since the interpreter does not support the arena-related insns, interpreter fallback should not be allowed for these insns in core.c::__bpf_prog_select_runtime(). Currently, when the interpreter executes the arena ST/LDX/STX insns, it would hit the BUG_ON() in ___bpf_prog_run() at run time.
