Summary

A vulnerability was determined in GPAC 26.07.0 affecting rmt_client_handle_ws_frame in src/utils/rmt_ws.c (WebSocket Handler component). Manipulating the payload_size argument can lead to a heap-based buffer overflow. The attack can be launched remotely, and the exploit has been publicly disclosed.

Risk Assessment

A remote attacker could trigger a buffer overflow, potentially causing a crash or code execution. The public exploit increases the likelihood of rapid exploitation.

Recommendation

Upgrade GPAC to version abi-16.26 (patch 37bccbb30cf53a0e1a084cea9a1ce422b3ddfe12) or later. Until then, restrict access to the WebSocket service from untrusted networks.
