CVE-2026-92231

HighCVSS 7.1
Published: Updated: Translated: NVD NIST

Summary

Joomla! Core versions 1.5.0-5.4.8 and 6.0.0-6.1.3 have an XSS filter bypass in InputFilter due to an HTML5 entity decode mismatch. The checkAttribute method normalizes an attribute value before testing it against the "javascript:" scheme regex, but without decoding HTML5 entities beforehand, causing an XSS vector.

Risk Assessment

The vulnerability allows an attacker to inject JavaScript through specially crafted attributes, potentially leading to session hijacking or unauthorized actions in the user's context.

Recommendation

Upgrade Joomla! to a patched version. Also apply additional security measures such as Content Security Policy.
