Published: Updated: Translated: NVD NIST

Exploitation Probability (EPSS)

Low risk
0.25%

17th percentile - higher than 17% of all known CVEs

Summary

pgweb through 0.17.0 leaves the POST /api/connect endpoint unguarded when connect-backend authorization is configured, allowing attackers to supply arbitrary database connection strings. Attackers can bypass the resource-to-database mapping by providing a custom session identifier and connection URL to access unauthorized databases and internal services.

Risk Assessment

An attacker can access unauthorized databases and internal services, potentially leading to data leakage or further escalation within the environment.

Recommendation

Update pgweb to a version newer than 0.17.0; until then, restrict network access to the /api/connect endpoint and validate connections server-side.
