CVE-2026-90379
HighCVSS 8.8Exploitation Probability (EPSS)
Low risk30th percentile - higher than 30% of all known CVEs
Summary
In the Linux kernel, the wifi mt76 driver for mt7921 chips lacked PCIe AER error handling. When an AER error occurs and the bus hangs, register reads return 0xFFFFFFFF, corrupting the DMA queue state and causing an invalid memory access (q->desc[] or q->entry[]) and a system crash. The fix validates the DMA index read from hardware, checks the bus_hung flag before reset, rejects MCU messages while the bus is hung, and installs no-op bus operations after an unrecoverable AER error.
Risk Assessment
On systems with mt7921 Wi-Fi devices, a PCIe AER error can trigger a kernel panic and make the whole system unavailable. Even with the fix, some devices may not fully recover due to hardware limitations.
Recommendation
Update the Linux kernel to a version containing this fix (mt76/mt7921e modules). If possible, enable PCIe AER support and plan to replace or re-probe the Wi-Fi device after an unrecoverable AER error.

Improper Certificate Validation vulnerability in hackney_ssl in benoitc hackney allows an on-path attacker to impersonate a server pinned to a private certificate authority via a certificate chain that ends in a publicly trusted root. hackney adds {partial_chain, fun hackney_ssl:partial_chain/1} to every verify_peer configuration, which accepts any certificate in the peer chain whose public key matches a root in the bundled certifi store, even when the connection is pinned to a private CA. The hostname check still applies, so the attacker needs a publicly trusted certificate for the pinned hostname. This issue affects hackney from 1.24.0 before 4.9.0.

An out-of-range value, such as the 0xFFFFFFFF returned while the bus is hung, is now clamped so it can no longer corrupt q->head or q->tail. In addition, check the bus_hung flag in mt7921_mac_reset_work() before attempting the reset sequence, reject MCU messages while the bus is hung, and install no-op bus operations when an unrecoverable AER error is detected, preventing further invalid hardware accesses. Due to hardware limitations - such as the lack of a connected hardware reset pin or the absence of host re-probe functionality - affected Wi-Fi devices may not fully recover to a normal operational state after certain errors, even with AER enabled.
