Summary

In the Linux kernel, the zram module lacked validation of deflate parameters. A user-supplied winbits value was not checked before being passed to zlib_deflate_workspacesize(), which triggers BUG_ON() for values outside the valid range.

Risk Assessment

An invalid winbits value can trigger BUG_ON() and a kernel panic, causing a denial of service (DoS) on the affected system.

Recommendation

Update the Linux kernel to a version containing the fix that validates deflate parameters in the zram module.
