Summary

The Filter Gallery plugin for WordPress in all versions up to and including 1.1.4 is vulnerable to authorization bypass because it does not properly verify that a user is authorized to perform an action. Authenticated attackers with subscriber-level access and above can overwrite the title and content of arbitrary WordPress posts, write the _wp_attachment_image_alt meta key on arbitrary posts, and create or overwrite arbitrary ufg_gallery_* options.

Risk Assessment

A low-privileged attacker can modify site content, leading to misinformation, injection of malicious content, or data corruption. This may also serve as a stepping stone for further privilege escalation.

Recommendation

Update the Filter Gallery plugin to a version later than 1.1.4. Until then, consider limiting subscriber-level accounts and monitoring post changes.
