Summary

A heap overflow vulnerability exists in Brocade Fabric OS before 10.0.1 when processing trunk configuration operations. The application parses user-supplied list strings into dynamically allocated heap arrays without boundary checks, allowing an authenticated administrator to cause heap corruption via crafted REST API requests.

Risk Assessment

An authenticated administrator can cause a service crash or execute arbitrary code, leading to full device compromise. This may result in severe SAN disruptions.

Recommendation

Update Brocade Fabric OS to version 10.0.1 or later. Restrict REST API access and monitor for unusual trunk configuration requests.

Original NVD description (English source)

When Brocade Fabric OS versions before 10.0.1 processes trunk configuration operations, the application parses user-supplied list strings into dynamically allocated heap arrays without enforcing boundary checks on the maximum allowable number of elements. An authenticated administrator can exploit this vulnerability via crafted REST API requests containing an excessive number of list delimiters, causing heap corruption that can result in service crash or arbitrary code execution.
