0.24%

15th percentile - higher than 15% of all known CVEs

Summary

The HT Mega Addons for Elementor WordPress plugin before 3.2.6 does not restrict the HTML tag name used to render the section headline in several of its widgets and blocks to a safe allowlist. This allows users with contributor-level access and above to store a crafted tag name that executes arbitrary JavaScript when the content is viewed, including by higher-privileged users who review or publish it.

Risk Assessment

Medium-privilege users can inject malicious JavaScript that executes in higher-privilege users' sessions, leading to privilege escalation and site takeover. This poses a serious security threat.

Recommendation

Update the HT Mega Addons for Elementor plugin to version 3.2.6 or later. Ensure HTML tag names are restricted to a safe allowlist.
