CVE-2026-86099

HighCVSS 8.2
Published: Updated: Translated: NVD NIST

Exploitation Probability (EPSS)

Low risk
0.39%

33th percentile - higher than 33% of all known CVEs

Summary

Chainlit through 2.12.0 fails to validate the client-supplied socket.io sessionId parameter, allowing unauthenticated attackers to traverse filesystem paths by injecting absolute or relative path sequences. Attackers can craft malicious sessionId values that escape the upload directory and recursively delete arbitrary directories accessible to the service process.

Risk Assessment

The risk includes unauthorized deletion of data and potential loss of system integrity. An unauthenticated attacker can delete critical directories, potentially leading to service disruption or data loss.

Recommendation

It is recommended to immediately upgrade Chainlit to a version newer than 2.12.0 if a patch is available. Also restrict access to the service and monitor logs for unusual sessionId requests.
