Summary

In the Linux kernel, in ASoC SDCA, the UMP message size check may pass incorrectly if the message offset is larger than the buffer length. The fix refactors the check to be more robust against invalid sizes.

Risk Assessment

Improper size check could lead to out-of-bounds read or write, potentially causing system crash or exploitable vulnerability.

Recommendation

Apply the Linux kernel update containing this fix to ensure safe handling of UMP messages in SDCA.
