Summary

In the Linux kernel, in the amba-pl011 serial driver, there is a synchronization issue during DMA teardown. dmaengine_terminate_all() does not wait for a running callback, so the TX callback can still touch the TX buffer after it is freed. The RX poll timer reads the RX buffers without the port lock. The fix switches to dmaengine_terminate_sync() and deletes the RX timer before freeing the buffers.

Risk Assessment

The vulnerability could lead to use-after-free of TX/RX buffers, potentially causing system crashes or privilege escalation. In practice, it may cause instability in serial port operation.

Recommendation

Apply a Linux kernel update containing the fix that synchronizes DMA termination and deletes the RX timer before freeing buffers.
